Baker Senior Center Naples (BSCN) is a nonprofit organization providing comprehensive services to older adults. BSCN’s three pillars of service include the senior center, Cognitive Health Services, including dementia respite and caregiver support and education, and Clinical Services, including mental health counseling and case management. Together, the three pillars of service offer older adults opportunities to thrive and look forward to enjoying their lives to the greatest capacity. BSCN is one of 111 Senior Centers accredited by the National Council on Aging. It is the only senior center in the United States offering comprehensive services in one place - a new 30,000 square foot award winning building on 11.7 acres in Naples, Florida.
Director of Communications & Marketing
The Director of Communications & Marketing is a strategic, creative, and mission-driven leader responsible for shaping and elevating Baker Senior Center Naples’ brand, visibility, and voice throughout the community. Reporting directly to the CEO and working in close partnership with the Chief Development Officer, Community Liaison, and senior leadership team, this individual will develop and execute an integrated communications, outreach, and marketing strategy that inspires engagement, strengthens community awareness, and advances the organization’s mission. A key imperative is helping the organization to diversify and grow its base of financial support by communicating impact consistently, genuinely and effectively.

It offers vibrant social, educational, and wellness programming alongside clinical services including mental health counseling, dementia respite, caregiver support, and case management. Position Summary
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communications Leadership
Develop and implement a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy aligned with the organization’s mission, strategic priorities, and growth objectives.
Serve as steward of the Baker Senior Center Naples brand, ensuring consistency and excellence across all communications channels and public-facing materials.
Identify opportunities to strengthen awareness, engagement, and community understanding of the organization’s impact and services.
Establish and monitor communications metrics to evaluate effectiveness and inform future strategy.
Serves as a partner to the CEO and leadership team regarding internal communications strategy, alignment and execution.
Creativity and Content Development
Lead the development of compelling content that highlights the impact of the organization’s programs, services, volunteers, donors, and community partners.
Oversee production of newsletters, annual reports, impact reports, digital communications, videos, photography, and other storytelling initiatives.
Develop and maintain a content strategy that reinforces the organization’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.
Collaborate with program leaders and staff to identify and share meaningful stories that illustrate organizational impact.
Public Relations and Community Visibility
Serve as the organization’s lead communications professional and primary media relations contact.
Develop and maintain relationships with local and regional media outlets and community influencers.
Identify and pursue opportunities for earned media coverage and public recognition.
Support executive leadership in preparing speeches, presentations, talking points, and public communications.
Digital Engagement and Marketing
Recommends and oversees organizational strategy and direction regarding website, social media platforms, email marketing, and digital engagement strategies.
Ensure digital communications effectively reach and engage diverse audiences, including older adults, caregivers, donors, volunteers, and community partners.
Monitor and ensure best practices in nonprofit communications and digital engagement.
Fundraising and Development Support
Partner closely with the Chief Development Officer to support fundraising initiatives, donor engagement, campaigns, sponsorship opportunities, and stewardship efforts.
Create communications materials that strengthen donor relationships and communicate philanthropic impact.
Collaborate on campaign messaging, donor communications, and organizational storytelling that supports fundraising goals.
Community Engagement and Collaboration
Work closely with the Community Liaison to amplify community outreach efforts, public presentations, educational programs, and partnership initiatives.
Support efforts to increase awareness of Baker Senior Center Naples throughout the community and strengthen the organization’s reputation as a trusted resource for older adults and caregivers.
Collaborate across departments to ensure organizational priorities, accomplishments, and opportunities are communicated effectively.
Team and Organizational Leadership
Lead and manage communications staff, contractors, consultants, and agency partners as appropriate.
Foster a collaborative, creative, and results-oriented communications function.
Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on communications opportunities, risks, and emerging issues.
Education & Qualifications
Experience: 10 or more years of progressive experience in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or related fields, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
Mission Alignment: A genuine commitment to the organization’s mission and a passion for improving the lives of older adults and their families.
Communication: Exceptional writing, editing, verbal communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex services and impact into compelling stories.
Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute communications strategies that advance organizational objectives.
Collaboration: Proven ability to build strong relationships and work effectively with staff, volunteers, donors, board members, community partners, and media representatives.
Creativity: A strong storyteller with an eye for compelling content, audience engagement, and brand development.
Leadership: Demonstrated success managing projects, teams, consultants, and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ethics: A strong work ethic, sound judgment, integrity, and commitment to representing the organization with professionalism and authenticity.
Ability to lift 25 lbs. or more.
Education: Bachelors or greater in communications, marketing, or related field or relevant experience in place of education.
